LOS ANGELES--A blogger suspected of describing the much-delayed Guns N' Roses album
Chinese Democracy as "eagerly anticipated" on his Website was arrested Wednesday and appeared in court.
FBI agents arrested the 27 year old Kevin Cagle at his apartment on suspicion of making falsely aggrandizing statements about a band that never should have been allowed to escape from the 80's.
"Sure, they saved us from Milli Vanilli and all of that bubblegum techno-pop garbage," said Ash Rickley, music correspondent for the Los Angeles News, "but they hit their peak somewhere before
November Rain and really should have left it at that. For {Blogger Kevin Cagle} to suggest that anyone gives a crap about this album is really an affront to taste and an offense against musical sensibility."
Federal authorities allege that Cagle further incriminated himself by expressing his own excitement at the forthcoming release, describing it as "awesome" and "totally kick-ass."
Already it has been widely speculated that Guns N' Roses actually hired Cagle to start an Internet-based "reminder campaign" intended to resurrect the long-forgotten band from the darkest recesses of public consciousness.
"Didn't Axl get his shit stomped by Pauly Shore?" commented one visitor to Cagle's blog, referring to Guns N' Roses' lead singer Axl Rose.
"No," suggested another. "It was Carlos Mencia."
Axl Rose could not be reached for comment to confirm which alleged comedian had stomped his shit.
In Federal court Wednesday Cagle entered a plea of not guilty and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
