Rememeber when Skinner and Earlg would post 1,000 posts Milestone threads
I remember every few days or so Earlg and Skinner or one their moderators would congratulate posters who reached 500 posts, 1,000 posts, etc. What happened to those posts.

4. So it was Newyorker99
I couldn't remember if it was Earlg or someone else. I wish NewYorker was still doing that. That was a very classy thing to do.

6. I liked it when we had actual post counts
I joined in fall '02. For maybe a year after that point the post counts were absolute, even if it was 24,663 or whatever. Some of the tallies astonished me.

I remember when I had about 20 posts and some nitwit tried to dismiss my political opinion based on post count. I won't mention the poster's name. He's had a few things wrong.

7. Yeah I saw a poster on here the other day
Who had over 24,000 posts, and I have been here longer than he has, but I have way fewer posts. I couldn't post for a while after I joined because I had no internet access, well I should say I lost my internet access. When I finally came back I was astonished how many posts people that joined around the time I did had.

8. I've had many absences from DU
After the '04 election I needed a long break, maybe January through May. That's fairly typical here, posters who disappear after a major election, especially a loss. This time I think we'll avoid that. :)

My post count used to jump based on flurries, back and forth arguments in the same thread. Now I like to make one lengthy post then sample a different thread. I realized the back and forths weren't solving anything and my disputes were always that type of situation.

10. I used to do more reading then writing when I first joined
It was like a kid hesitating to get into the pool. Finally I just decided to jump into the deep end.
