Spoiler- The woman's marathon was amazing...
The woman who won, Tomescu-Dita, what a champion! She just went out and took it. I admire that, everybody else was playing it conservative and she just went and took their hearts out. Plus, she's 38 years old. Just amazing. That was one of the best performances I've seen in these games. That's how you go out and win, I think. She outwilled everyone.

I felt bad for the woman from the U.S. who had to pull out, especially so early on, that had to be heartbreaking. And I was hoping Paula Radcliffe would do better.

But could you imagine running into the stadium like that in the lead? The rush! That feeling would have to be ineffable. I was proud of that woman though. Great job.

1. I watched the whole race, never did that before.
I was so pulling for her to stay in the lead.

Got worried a few times but she is champion.

What a race.

2. I'm a fan of greatness
I can watch just about anything when someone is doing an exceptional job. Track and Field. Tennis. Golf. Wrestling. Football. Basketball. Somebody giving a great speech. A great actor/actress. Director. Musical performance. I'm into it all. Hell if Tiger Woods is playing gold, I'm checking it out. If Springsteen is on some show, I'm there. If Scorsese has a new film coming out, yup, I'm there.

I think the Olympics is just a natural conflation of my love of greatness and my own love and background in sports. I love it all. :)
