WTF?!? Suddenly Kal Penn is in every film I've ever seen

1. I think he's terrific

in House and The Namesake. If you haven't seen The Namesake, you should. It's a beautiful, quiet film that stays with you for days.

2. Don't get me wrong--I think he's great onscreen

And he gives a fine interview, too--I heard him on Fresh Air when The Namesake came out. Quite a remarkable range, too.

But how did he get to be in every film? I was watching Chaplin's Modern Times, and there was Penn, stuck in the gearing.

4. I've noticed that about a couple of actors

It's not that they weren't out there making movies it's just that you didn't notice them -- until you DID notice them and then all of a sudden you see they have made a lot of movies. One example I'm thinking of in particular is Patrick Dempsy (not a great actor but I think he's hot as hell). I've seen him in dozens of movies and TV shows but it wasn't until Grey's Anatomy that I found him at all appealing.

Kel is adorable but I'm so much older than him that it makes me feel like a pev for thinking he's sexy.

PS, how are you Lizzie? Will you be coming out tonight?

6. the first harold and kumar really helped him out with the younger crowd

i love that movie.. one of my favorite comedies. the sequel was a huge letdown though. i really like watching him on house, one of my favorite shows. john cho is still my favorite from the harold and kumar movie though. :hi:

edit to add: another great thing about kal penn.. he campaigned for obama :)

I'm not quite ready to consider myself part of the older crowd just yet! Penn has a good delivery and a generally funny screen presence. I've only seen Cho in Harold and Kumar, where he was quite entertaining. Haven't seen the sequel yet, though.
