Actually, no remakes for me. Original ideas, please. I don't feel like partying like it's 1987.

4. Oh fuck no, the Original was great, they will just fuck it up...
especially considering they may muck up the themes of the original film(dumbing down of media, privatization of law enforcement). The movie itself was prophetic in many ways, and there is no way in hell that this will translate into a remake.

I've always seen plenty of stick-poking in that movie
Didn't they have a car advertised at 5 MPG? And who can forget "Nuke 'Em"? I totally wanted that game when I was 9.

5. As it happens, yes
Edited on Wed Aug-06-08 12:13 PM by Bryan
It's being directed by Darren Aronofsky of Pi and Requiem For a Dream fame. That alone moves it from "Do Not Want" territory to "That's So Crazy, It Just Might Work" country.

10. Hmmm, if Aronofsky's directing, there just might be hope for it.

I'm surprised it's not Michael Bay's next project.

14. It's been known to happen
John Carpenter's The Thing, David Cronenberg's The Fly, Philip Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers-maybe Aronosky can pull it off in similar fashion.

9. No thanks
The only way in which it could benefit would be more up-to-date special effects versus the stop-motion ED-209 of the original.
