After $1500 in vet bills, and over a month on antibiotics and Prescription Diet s/d.... he is finally rid of the bladder infection, stones, and sediment in his bladder.
He was due for a follow-up urinalysis on Friday, so I called the vet's office that day to see about an appointment. He also badly needed a shave -- while he was hospitalized the vet had much more important things to worry about than combing out his long hair. Like, you know, making sure he could pee and stuff. His belly was badly matted when I got him back, and I tried to comb them out but they were beyond repair. They weren't able to work him in until yesterday for the shave, but I was going to run out of the antibiotics over the weekend, and needed a new bag of cat food.
So I came in to pick up more antibiotics and another bag of the s/d on Friday. By now all of the vet techs up there know him and know my face. I was standing close to the counter and the vet techs could see me through the glass door that headed toward their back office... within a few minutes one of the senior techs came out and said "Someone said Ninja's owner was out here... nothing's wrong, right?" She was so relieved that he was okay.
Yesterday morning I took him in for his appointment, and three of the techs made a point to come out and say Hello to both of us. I picked him up yesterday afternoon, a little worried since I hadn't gotten a call about how his urinalysis came out. My vet came out to give me the good news, and gave me a hug because she was so happy he was doing so well. Then I got to take my healthy, sweet, purring, nearly naked cat home.
And I do mean nearly naked. They gave him a very close lion cut -- he's so nekkid that you can very quickly see he's a boy. It's such a surprise every time he gets a shave about how small he really is underneath all that fur. Most people who see him with his full coat think he's overweight, but he's actually a bit on the thin side.
He's so happy -- he feels better, isn't matted anymore, and won't have to be pilled twice a day!
Now I just have to pay off CareCredit....
