3. I think it would have been this....
KISS- Dynasty, from 1979 (the graphic in the beginning of the vid says 1997 for whatever reason?). I would have been all of 8 years old.

They were starting to internally combust by this time, so I'll post the disco-esque song!

Thriller was my first album. Double gatefold vinyl. It holds up pretty well, music-wise, too.

Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 11:55 AM by Richardo
I would have been about 13. I can't get to "the youtube", I'll post it this evening.

In the meantime, lyrics:

One morning I woke up and I knew
You were really gone
A new day, a new way, I knew
I should see it along
Go your way, I'll go mine and
Carry on

The sky is clearing and the night
Has gone out
The sun, he come, the world
is all full of light
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice but
To carry on

The fortunes of fables are able
To sing the song
Now witness the quickness with which
We get along
To sing the blues you've got to live the tunes and
Carry on

Carry on
Love is coming
Love is coming to us all

Where are you going now my love?
Where will you be tomorrow?
Will you bring me happiness?
Will you bring me sorrow?
Oh, the questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?

Girl when I was on my own
Chasing you down
What was it made you run?
Trying your best just to get around.
The questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?
:smoke:

22. Kiss "Destroyer"; Bruce "Born To Run"; ...
...Beatles "White Album" and Beach Boys "Endless Summer." Can't post songs just now, but I can tell you that it was the winter of '76, at the National Record Mart in the Monroeville Mall (Pittsburgh), and I finally got my dad to buy me some records. Those were my first four. Dad gamely sprung for TWO double-albums! I was 12. (I must have just gotten a good report card, or something). As the lady behind the counter rang up the vinyl and took my dad's money, she told him, with much enthusiasm, "Oh, you're really gonna like this Springsteen album!" To which my father, a psychiatrist born in 1929, and a major classical music aficionado, retorted dryly, "I'm sure I will."

And maybe he did! He certainly heard it often enough for the best part of the next decade.

The wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward-bound
Made him a slave to his wand'rin ways

And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

Oh, I met him there in a border town
He vowed we'd never part
Though he tried his best to settle down
I'm now alone with a broken heart

And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

The next of kin to the wayward wind

52. I vividly remember getting Led Zeppelin IV
It was Halloween and my dad had me ride down to Wal-mart on my bike to get it. I was like 12 or 13.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9i2fqxSjTI

And thus began about a 2 year period where I pretty much only listened to Zeppelin. I read what I feel is a pretty true post about Zeppelin. "There comes a time in every teen boys life where he thinks Led Zeppelin made the best music ever. What is more no one else was/is even capable of making anything remotely close."

I certainly believed that. I still feel the urge to get the Led out every once in a while, but I'm now willing to concede that other bands have their moments too.
