I cannot sleep, so I will share a bunch of remodeling pictures with you.
I know I have posted at least some of these before.

Backstory: I live in an older home that used to have an "open", or "un-enclosed" porch. In 1986, I enclosed it in order to make a a semi-livable space, but I did not do a very good job back then. I used cheap storm windows, cheap T11 siding, etc.

A few years ago, I decided to do it right in oak. Here are some work-in progress pics.

Demolition of horribly conceived ceiling portion of extended roof. I had to do a large amount of scraping and shimming of the rough frame to try to bring everything square and level.

Another shot of the ceiling area. Note that storm windows were simply trimmed with 2X lumber and painted.

Here's where I began to re-frame the extended section and drop the electrical to a horizontal plane.

Framing ceiling section in hand-finished oak.

Framing area below windows in oak.

Finished ceiling portion

Finished porch showing newly installed and oak trimmed windows, and fresh paint.

3. He is doing pretty good thank you...
He came home today, and he is on 3 medications. Vomiting has stopped, all bleeding has stopped, but he has the runs, probably until tomorrow according to the vet.

I feel bad for him...he is wiped out and sleeping hard.

Thank you for asking. :)

5. Good, good
We lost a dog suddenly a few years ago, and I was worried you couldn't sleep because of your dog.

Glad to know he's doing better. :)

11. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
:(

I missed the little guy last night....

He usually follows me into the bathroom, and when he was not there last night, I realized how much I missed him....

6. You do EXCELLENT work, philboy!
Want to marry me for a month or two? I could use a handyman here for a couple things.

A garage wedding, mind you. That means you can back out in the morning?

I kill me sometimes, LOL!

13. ...
no

in fact worse

knees, achilles tendons, neck, back, all ache and hurt without reprieve. No meds like that here. Stupid assed muscle relaxants aren't worth a damn. Just make me grouchy.

Sorry you are hurting and hope you get some relief soon.

I've got a PT appt. next Wednesday, but I really don't know why. I've been there and done that.

Mentally, I suck even more right now.

:pals:

thanks for asking

I really am, and I hope you are able to find relief, both physically and mentally.

Pain sucks, and emotional pain is worse.

I'm sorry you are hurting. Get better, would you please?

34. Today I had a lot of that severe uncontrolled pain too.
2 migraine headaches, pain level up to an 7-8 most of the day, nasea and vomiting (the later of which through out my back), and I've maxed out my meds for the day.

I can't close my eyes without getting ill from the room spinning.

I don't know how I have made it through today. There's definitely nothing to admire here. I'm just barely holding on. :(

I hope you're doing better now. I really hope you are well.

19. I love the beadboard.
It's perfect for an enclosed porch space and the finish on that oak is very warm and makes the space look cozy. The blondness of the oak is a nice contrast to the green wall color too.

24. Thanks a lot Gormy...
Those are individual strips, about 3 inches wide, tongue and groove.

Minwax "Golden Pecan" with 4 coats of polyurethane.

The walls used to be white, so it was a big step to paint them so dark, but it worked out well. The big advantage is that with the dark color, people walking on the street cannot see you when they look in.

I had a wooden "G" hanging on the wall...first letter of my name.

Over the years, the sun darkened the paneling, except for where the "G" was hanging.

Yes, it is very comfortable out there, and I have fallen asleep in that glider rocker many times.

I don't smoke in the house, but I do smoke out there, and so does company. :hi:
