My new tv is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (:woohoo:) and I'm trying to figure out if I'll need to add anything to the HTPC I bought almost a year ago (and has been collecting dust since it's unviewable on my ordinary CRT tv). It has a tv tuner and a video card. I can't find any S/PDIF connectors on the motherboard, BUT since the back has an optical out labeled S/PDIF so I'm assuming I can use a DVI -> HDMI connector to hook it to my receiver, then an optical cable from the pc to the receiver as well, and all should be well in my audio/video world. Am I correct?
Eventually I'll be adding a blu-ray / HD-DVD player to the mix as well - should audio and video (as stated) work with that also?
Or is it better to bypass my receiver and go straight to the tv? Is a new video card with HDMI out better? If so - how do I get the audio into the mix?
Any hints, suggestions, horror stories, etc. that anyone wants to share?
