Who invented mother-in-laws?
I mean really?

It seems my M-I-L wears her feelings on her shoulders and every little thing upsets her. And with me being pregnant, it seems things have gotten worse! I could scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Hello My Dear
Sorry to hear of your situation. My MIL died in April. She was the most wonderful human being on the planet. I could not have asked for a better set of in-laws. My FIL, who died in 2004 was my hero and a gem of a human being.

Try to forget your MIL and take care of you and the baby.

5. Aw, thanks!! My M-I-L is a wonderful person but
I think she is getting a little jealous about the time my husband and I spend with my family. But they are much closer. She lives over 8 hours away while my mom and dad live 2 hours away. She finds anything to get her feelings hurt over and I just can't take it anymore. I feel like this is just the beginning too with the baby coming and all.

17. They have a name they've been considering, but he's more sure of it that she is.
I am excited, but at the same time I'm a little depressed because they live 1500 miles away.

28. Shoot for August 27th - that's my birthday!
I always wonder what it'd be like to have in-laws. Well, I did have a father-in-law for years, but he lived in Pakistan and I never got to meet him, and he died in 2004.

15. How are you feeling?
Being near the end of pregnancy in the heat of summer is tough, you staying comfortable?

I'm sorry about the MIL. I really hope it doesn't get worse after the baby is born. Mine did. :( But now I'm divorced so she's out of my life.

19. The heat is only getting worse! I can't imagine
what this MS heat will be like when I am humongous in August! My back has been killing me lately, and I have to use the bathroom every 2 seconds, but other than that, all is perfect!!!!

My mom always loves to say "A daughter is a daughter for all of your life. A son is a son until he takes a wife." I think that is the issue here. My M-I-L wants it to be like it is with her daughter, but I am extremely close to my mom and as much as I care for my m-i-l, she aint my mama!!!!

4. My Mother-in-Law is wonderful,...
...and I was closer to my Father-inLaw than to MY walking turd of a father.

I'm sorry that yours is a pain in the ass.

BTW, good luck and best wishes for a happy healthy and vibrant baby.

PEACE!

7. I don't have one yet
The wedding is in March and I'm already dreading becoming "related" to my man's mother. I find this site puts things in perspective (if you haven't seen it already)-mine could be a lot worse.

Don't worry about her-take care of you and the baby first.

She is just an overly sensitve person here lately and everything hurts her feelings.

Congrats on your soon to be marriage!!!

But don't worry. A no-bid contract and a few more years of service packs will fix it. Promise!

when and if you ever have a son of your own, your feelings for him will never change. It's true that sons grow up and their wives become #1, but for the mom left behind, it's a bit sad. Be kind to your MIL.

Best wishes!

But she guilt trips my husband constantly now, and it is really starting to piss me off.

We had no idea she was coming to stay tomorrow night. She was supposed to be coming Saturday morning. I invited my brother's wife down to stay Friday for her birthday since my brother will be out of town. My MIL doesn't even tell us she will be here tomorrow. It was only by accident I found out. When my husband told her that we made plans she started crying and said he never puts her first. This is the 3rd or 4th incident in which she has tried to make him feel guilty and it usually always involves things we do with my family. And it is never us intentionally trying to hurt her.

24. Oh, I can see your issues with her...
but I don't think she's trying to make your husband feel guilty. I think she probably genuinely feels second fiddle to your family and it hurts her. Is it a problem if she joins in on the birthday party for your SIL?

25. I don't think she means to make him feel guilty either.
It just seems to have really increased since I have become pregnant. His sister and her baby are also coming with his mom. They know they are all more than welcome to join us tomorrow.

She did this on Mother's Day too. She lives a good ways away. My mom and grandma came down to visit on Mother's Day. When my husband called her to wish her a happy day, she said that we always have fun with my family. It is just little stabs like that that add up and get under my skin. I think she hates that she lives so far away, but there is nothing I can do about that.

26. yes, the distance adds to her feeling of being left out...
but I can see how it could get under your skin. She probably just wants to feel included in everything even though the distance would prevent her from being there all the time.

Anyway, you sound like a wonderful person, and I'm sure your husband is wonderful, and your MIL misses her son . Maybe she's anxious about the baby and her place as grandmother. Life is hard - LOL
