5. You could always just say that was your plan. That tends to work if the stuff is really important to
that person. Worth a shot at least. "If you're not here soon, the Goodwill truck is scheduled to stop by on Monday at 10am. Your stuff will be outside, so if you get here before 10am, it's all yours. Otherwise, there will be a lot of thrilled Goodwill shoppers come Tuesday."

Weird, I'm watching Don't Forget the Lyrics and right as I read the headline to this post, the guy was singing the Goodtimes Theme.

6. Florida!
From Good Times. When her husband dies, that's her famous line.

8. I think if it isn't any more important than that to him
send him an email and tell him that either he picks it up or it goes to goodwill or the Sally Army or something, hell, he will have had a choice then, otherwise he's controlling things and renting space inside your head for free!

Good luck!

9. Why not just put it out on the driveway or on the side of the house?
You need the room right, your house, yes? His stuff should go outside.

10. I know someone who got divorced. Her husband moved out -- left closets of clothes.
There were suits and coats costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars each (attorney clothes). About four years later, he still hadn't picked it up. I told her to it to a consignment shop, but she just donated it all. :banghead: The money wasted by him, and then again by her, just killed me.

11. you are not his doormat
If you don't draw the line, he'll keep doing this.

I suggest you do what others suggest -- give him a time frame - if you want to be generous, tell him he has all of next weekend to pick it up. If not, it's going to Goodwill. Put it in writing, too - an email, or even a letter (either the email or the letter should have some sort of delivery confirmation). Send a copy to his lawyer, too.

Really - do NOT let him do this. I know you say you're not that kind of person - but you will feel better about yourself if you can draw the line.

Just MHO, of course. Free advice, and all that. I've never been in your place, so easier said than done. But if you were advising a good friend - what would you suggest they do in your situation?
