1. Why the visceral hatred for Dane Cook on this site?

I find him merely amusing at best and he seems to be a narcissist. That is about all the thought I'm willing to put towards him. Some people on DU just really, really, really hate him. I'm curious as to why, really.

Imagine getting a wet willy from a twenty-something frat boy and imagine that it happens every time you come across him. That's Dane Cook.

I hate Cook's act. I find him unfunny in the extreme. It took me a long time to even understand that he was attempting humor, rather than just monologuing. So I don't watch him. It's a lot easier than hating him or posting endless barrages of name-calling at him. And for all I know, he's a wonderful person who doesn't deserve my hate, anyway. Life's too short, there are too many other channels to worry about what I don't like.

Just my bored response for the evening. I should be doing other stuff, but here I am.

I don't hate him, but I flip away whenever he comes on my radio or TV. Whenever I try to give him a chance, I don't even crack a smile.

Yeah, I've been guilty of watching his show, but I probably won't do so anymore. I'm not offended by his decidely non-PC humor, for the most part, but when he says he won't vote for Obama just because his name is "too ethnic", that's just fucking ridiculous.

He also says he wouldn't vote for a Latino named "Julio" so it's not a racial thing. It's just fucking dumb.
