Last year, I asked for beach reading recommendations...
...and got a bunch of good ones, so I'm going to push my luck and ask again.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should read at the beach this year? Fiction only please, I'm planning on taking a week off from reality.

Something along the lines of Richard Russo would be perfect, but I can go trashier as well.

Thanks!

1. David Sedaris has a new book out - it's hilarious.
I devoured it in 2 days. :)

2. GMTA. Already ordered.
But I hear that it's not as good as "Me Talk Pretty One Day". That was a scream. "Naked", not quite so much, but still good.

3. It is tough to go wrong with any Carl Hiaasen novel.
He's funny, totally quirky, and not too much graphic sex.

I just got done with two of his backlist novels--Stormy Weather and Skin Tight. I enjoyed them both a great deal, but I do think that if you are gonna start with only one of Hiaasen's novels, my suggestion would be Skinny Dip because it really is classic Hiaasen. He has some recurring characters, and oddly enough, I just can't help but like them--weird as they are!

Enjoy your vacation and happy reading!

4. Thank you! I am also a Hiaasen fan
And he's so prolific that there is always a new one out in paperback to read.

Thanks for the suggestion!

5. Anything by Jasper Fforde.
Either the Thursday Next series, or the Nursery Crimes series. You have to read them in order, though...

6. I'm reading "The Forgery of Venus" by Michael Gruber - clever and funny!
Gruber's a great storyteller and can actually write as well - unlike many of the bestsellers out there ;)

9. That was one of the recs I got last summer....
... and I read it and enjoyed it. Very long book, but quite a page-turner and very educational too.

Thanks.
