My ultra moody (but loveable) 14 year old daughter....
just walked into my office and said "Mom, do you think I have issues?" How does one respond to that, it probably won't get me mother of the year, but I said "Of course you do honey, you're 14"....

to which my loveable little smartass replied "What's your excuse then?"

I have often thought that my children are extremely fortunate that human beings don't eat their young;)

1. Ah, youth...

When my daughter was about that age I had a similar experience. She was in her room, in the dark, shedding some tears over a boyfriend.

I opened the door a bit and said, into the weeping darkness, "Hon, can I give you a word of advice?"

Silence.

Then, out of the darkness comes the reply "What, oh great philosopher?"

And she didn't even have the courtesy to use a sarcasm smiley.

Not that she needed one...

:D

4. The worst part is that most of the time I think her snarky side
is pretty damn funny. Half the time she thinks I tell her "We will discuss this later" because I'm pissed, but most of the time I have to go to a different room so she doesn't find me laughing my ass off!

You're daughter sounds like a pretty neat kid:)

8. As does yours...14 is a tough age...
I've raised two girls; one just turned 18 today, and the one from the above-mentioned story is home from med-school for 2 weeks.

There were times, though... :D

6. I can't...
she's two inches taller than me. Maybe if I would have started beating them when they were little I could pull it off, but she still remembers the one time I spanked her (around age 6) for running out in front of a car and then me crying my eyes out afterwards because I felt so guilty. I'm just not very scary...
