I expected more from Gigabit ethernet
My two home PCs have a GigE switch between 'em, I just got around to installing the GigE network card in my wife's PC. I need to copy over 60 gig of data while I upgrade my PC.

Even with jumbo packets turned on, I'm getting 12-15 Mbps. I think it's her PC - 2.4 Ghz P4, cheapest motherboard I could find 4 years ago. It's maxed out at 100% CPU, while my PC (quad core Core 2, o'clocked to 3 GHz) is registering a 5% load.

This is what I get for buying cheap hardware.
