Today is the 90th anniversary of a hallowed day in baseball history
In 1918, after six years with the Dodgers (actually the Robins then), Charles Dillon "Casey" Stengel was traded to Pittsburgh with George Cutshaw for Chuck Ward, Burleigh Grimes and Al Mamaux.

On June 6 of that year, the Pirates began a series in Brooklyn. As he approached the plate for his first at-bat as a visitor in his old yard, Stengel stopped and tipped his cap — and a bird flew out from under it.

You could barely understand him, but you had to love him. :D

"Lovely, lovely. The park is lovelier than my team."
