Hi! Does anyone have an experience with a 1994 Toyota Corolla?
My Integra blew its head gasket and I'm interested at looking at a Corolla I found on Craigslist and would like feedback on how good of a car it is. It's a DX model, stick shift.
Thanks for any help I can get!

1. Not with '94s specifically
but my parents had an '89 Corolla that they completely drove into the ground. They finally got rid of it at 200,000 miles, but that thing was still trucking along!

They're currently driving '96 and '06 Camrys. They both have well over 100,000 miles on them and no major repairs.

3. Thanks! This car has 200,000 miles on it but the owner seems
anal. He's a mechanical engineer with IBM and according to him has spent $1,000 t0 $2,000 every couple of years in maintenance. The asking price is low and affordable. Less than what it would take to repair the Integra.

5. Wow! Thank you! I also went over to Edmunds and Consumers and the reviews were excellent too.
I appreciate your taking your time to find the link for me. That was very sweet of you!

4. I had 92 corolla for 12 years.

I never had to crack the hood once. :) (although I took it in for quasi-regular maintenance). I sold it for a good amt of $$$ in the paper to a man who said he and his family *only* ever bought Toyota corollas.

They're a good car. How many miles does it have? If you can get the vin number, you can see if it's been in any major accidents -probably not, but sometimes good to rule that out. Just read your other reply - that's a lot of miles, but to be expected with a car that old. Take it to a mechanic and pay them for their opinion of the engine. Then go for it! (unless mechanic finds big trouble)

7. '92 is close enough! Thank you for your advice on the mechanic.
Logistics are hard though. The car is located about a half hour from here and I'm going to see it either on his lunch hour or after his work day is over. And I'm afraid if my mechanic sees it, he'll want to buy it out from under me!
We'll see...

9. Oh, and the whole reason I bought that Corolla in the first place is that the
mechanic who took care of my previous car in its old age (a Chevette) told me to get rid of it (the Chevette) asap and buy a Toyota or Honda and I'll never need him again in my life. He was right.

11. My mechanic buys and sells cars and he even offered to take my car in a trade-in.
I would love never to need my mechanic too! So far, from all I'm hearing about these cars, they're excellent.

6. The Corolla is a very reliable car
It was my very first car... not that year, but one much older.

I'd recommend it! :hi:

8. Thanks! I'm tired of unreliable cars! My best and favorite car

was my 1968 Chevy Nova. It was 15 years old when it was stolen. When it was found, the joyriders drove the front end into the ground. Oh well....

10. I have a 2004 Corolla.
Not a big fan of it at all. Forced upon me by the wife after she got a new car. Can't wait to move on, except for the fact it still runs well and is paid off.

She had a 1996 Corolla before, which I think is the same model as the 1994. That one was actually pretty good. I think the Corolla has gone downhill, though, IMHO.

12. It's good to know that you're wife's older Corolla was pretty good.
I'm sorry you're not happy with yours although paid-off is always good!
