You know what's hot? Men who adore kids.
It's probably an innate biological reproductive thing, but I have always had a *thing* for guys who are warm and comfortable around children.

I mention this, because a rather plain-looking man was walking up our alley with his little girl, and as soon as he picked her up and smooched her, he immediately became swoon-worthy in my eyes. It's pretty much a reflexive response for me.

8. How about men who embarass their kids?
I did a high school graduation party invitation for my son and included a picture of him at the age of 2 with a pair of his underwear on his head. Sent out to his relatives and family friends. I think he may be slightly miffed at me.

64. The sins of the father should not be placed on the head of a child.
My father was a Goldwater/Nixon supporter.

We had huge and loud political arguments.

But at the end of the day, he was a loving man, an excellent father, and there is not a day that I wish I could share him with my children.

Not the type who talk about their kids as burdens, or who only mention them in passing. I like to see signs of obsession, and a close bond. Someone who brags about their kids' accomplishments more than their own, or who tell me stories about their kids more than about themselves.

I'm married to one.

My own observation is in general cat loving men they tend to be highly intelligent, secure in their masculinity, and have a great sense of humor. Plus, they tend to be liberal.

The Freeper types are more likely to be cat haters. Bleah. I can't stand men who say they hate cats. Fuck 'em.

31. i wouldn't worry about, men who like kids are actually the opposite of hot
i've never understood the purpose of this kind of false pretense, actually, it's quite a turn-off to see some guy doting on a child, if it's his child it's a turn-off because why would i want to get romantically or sexually involved with a man who already has a child/family -- and if it isn't his child it's just downright creepy

so if we're honest with ourselves, no, a man with child is not hot, any more than a woman with child is hot, except to their immediate partners/spouses -- to the rest of us, no, definitely not hot

the word "hot" has a meaning, and it's a sexual meaning, now if she means it gives her a warm gooey feeling to see that the man dotes on his child fine, but that isn't "hot," any more than the warm gooey feeling you get from petting your cat is "hot"

Then again, I don't "get" the near-universal appeal of kids or babies.

Any guy that was TOO into that would make me run the opposite direction. Women who are so into babies really creep me out, too. I hate it when people bring them into the office.

Seriously, I don't blame you for wanting to have pics of your kids around you, but what makes you think other people want to be around your kid, or think he's particularly special, in a workplace?

Honestly, I just don't get that. I'm not going to bring my dog in and have him do tricks for my colleagues.

And sometimes they ask when he is coming back for a visit. I guess if the place wasn't so kid-friendly, I wouldn't do it. The odd thing is that, in other ways, my workplace is a dysfunctional place full of weird politics and hidden agendas. But, bring in a baby or a young child, and everybody swoons.

I'm the kind that gets a little sarcastic to the other single folks in the office about stuff like that.

"Ok, we have proof that they've had sex, at least once."

I worked in a huge cube farm, somebody would bring in their child, half the room would stop working and become very loud. The other half of the room, now doing double the work couldn't hear the customers on the phone because of the noise.

I don't hate children by any stretch, but unless they're drawing a paycheck, they probably shouldn't be in the office too often. :-)

49. My version of that:
I love to see a guy with a tiny toy dog. Someone who's secure enough in his masculinity that he can dote on a tiny dog, and not "need" to have a Rottweiler or some such at his side. Nothing wrong with a guy walking a Rottweiler either, of course - any animal-lover gets plus-points from me - but it's even better when it's a tiny breed.

82. really?
I like kids (I didn't for years), but I'm damn glad that I don't have any of my own. It's fun to be around my friends' kids, because you can be goofy with them, but don't have to deal with the crying or grades or any real responsibility. My girlfriend and I used to babysit this one kid, and we took him to McDonald's playland, and someone told him that my girlfriend was a "funny mommy", and he got really upset - it was great! "They're not my PARENTS!!!" .... just how I want it.

Why would a man who likes to be around kids that aren't his automatically be a pedophile but a woman who does is not? That doesn't even begin to make sense.

62. Yeah, I'm pretty fucking awesome. Y'know who else is too?
Obama.

There is something going on in all those pics of him interacting with kids that just can't be faked.

71. Oh, it's much deeper than that.
Kids and animals CANNOT be fooled. They know who's on the up-and-up and who's full of shit. If an adult and kids are comfortable together, that speaks volumes about the adult's character.

For that very reason I swoon around men who are good with dogs. A happy, healthy dog is the best character reference to me.

I don't like the inverse this is implying.

Some of us are just not comfortable around kids. Doesn't make us less human.

84. I don't think that's necessarily what she means
the inverse, for me, is when a child flat out refuses to go near an adult. From what I've seen (and I've been around MANY children), that really doesn't have anything to do with the adult's comfort level.

As far as I'm concerned, it also has nothing to do with brief interactions you may have with kids you don't know. The warning sign is when a child won't go anywhere near their aunt, for example. One does have to wonder WHY. Kids don't much care if you have zero experience. But they do have an extremely good bullshit detector. As long as you're trying, they're fine. It's when adults either hurt them or really, honestly don't give a flying shit that children will pull away.

Given that definition of "comfortable"...I completely agree with the above post.

72. When I first saw my husband in his Cubmaster uniform
acting like the big goofy, wonderful dad that he is, I knew I made a great choice (we had just gotten engaged). Then I attacked him (in a good, happy, smoochy way). :) I wish he was my children's bio-dad. Their's isn't awful, but he's not him.

73. Absolutely
Few more attractive traits in a man.

I'm afraid I'm not up for posting pictures of my niece and nephew on the internet - but suffice it to say that their uncle is happy to fuss endlessly over them.

But after my marriage and the stepson, kids are a total deal breaker.

85. Chicks, man.
So they get turned on by the most non-sexual thing we men do...take care of kids?

Wish I'd known this before the bad knees and the white mustache. Then again, it's probably better that I didn't.;-)

88. Hmm, I can't agree.
I don't much want kids and I'm awfully glad my husband has little interest in them either. He's good with kids, don't get me wrong, and so am I, but it's not something either of us are all that interested in. And it's definitely not a turn-on!
