5. One time (true story and I think I posted about it when it happened)

I washed one of MrG's lighters. I took it out of the wash and attempted to light it and, lo and behold, it lit! I was all proud that I hadn't destroyed a perfectly good lighter and set it down next to the fabric softener on the shelf under the stairs and went upstairs. Meanwhile the shelving under the stairs proceeded to practically burn down because the lighter would turn "off" anymore. We were sitting in the living room when we smelled the wonderful smell of cheap 70's basement paneling burning...Luckily, not "too" much damage...but a whole lot of eyeballing from my husband.
