Helpful Firefox tip (open all tabs)
Most of the time, I'm running Firefox with about 5-6 tabs open: gmail, news, du and other forums. i.e. the most important ones.

I have other pages bookmarked into various folders and some of those folders I would like to open the entire contents into new tabs. The problem is that the "open all in tabs" option also closes the existing tabs. I had developed various work arounds for this annoyance, like opening new instances of Firefox, but what I really wanted was a way to open all the bookmarks in a folder into new tabs, without closing any of the currently open ones. That is really not a lot to ask.

Turns out the solution was there all the time, there's just no dialog interface for it. You have to edit the config file directly:

1. Open the config file by typing "about:config" in the address bar and hitting return.
2. Find "browser.tabs.LoadFolderAndReplace" and double click so that to change it to false.
3. Restart firefox.

Presto.

1. On a similar note, as my husband is required to use Firefox for work
What can be done to keep Firefox up? It seems after this last upgrade, that it just shuts down on him; occasionally he gets a alert window indicating that a error has been found and it shuts down.
Yes, I know we're using Windoze XP build 2, but it used to be much more stable.

3. Really? Odd. I run it on 6 computers without that happening.
Perhaps the computers or server at his workplace are buggy?

4. Home computer, he works from home.
It's an older computer, and since it is also the family computer, we run a lot of virus and spyware programs so he can continue working on it. We can't get a new computer, so we're pretty much stuck. It may also have something to do with the portal his employer has him use, and that's not something we can fix on our side.
