Especially the line ...bring your alibis as this is a perfect description of California Culture.

And the music isn't half bad either.

But most Eagles, although not bad musically, is overplayed, and it annoys the shit out of me.

1. In my opinion, the best thing they did was
"Seven Bridges Road"

3. That song did showcase the 5 and 6 part harmonies
Although I think CSN&Y still beat them at that.

The Eagles are OK - I just hate that every time I turn on an "oldies" station, there they are.

4. I haven't cared for them since Bernie Leadon (the banjo player) left
I like Joe Walsh well enough but I liked the Eagles with the country influence better. Here's my favorite Eagles song:

5. Doolin and Dalton (my personal favorite)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE2BVSpkUoY

They were duelin, doolin-dalton
High or low, it was the same
Easy money and faithless women
Red-eye whiskey for the pain
Go down, bill dalton, it must be gods will,
Two brothers lyin dead in coffeyville
Two voices call to you from where they stood
Lay down your lay books now
Theyre no damn good
Better keep on movin, doolin-dalton
til your shadow sets you free
If youre fast, and if youre lucky
You will never see that hangin tree

Well, the towns lay out across the dusty plains
Like graveyards filled with tombstones, waitin for the names
And a man could use his back, or use his brains
But some just went stir crazy, lord, cause nothin ever changed
til bill doolin met bill dalton
He was workin cheap, just bidin time
Then he laughed and said,Im goin,
And so he left that peaceful life behind
Mm...

7. Ditto, except my song is "One of These Nights"..
It's my perfect cruising song.

That said, I like a lot of Don Henley's solo work.

10. the acoustic "Hell Freezes Over" version is their best song ever...
I grew up on the Eagles, I hated them for a while out of rebellion, but now they remind me of long car rides in the fall and lazy weekends on a boat with my pop. I still consider that album one of the best American albums in generations.

11. Hate the Eagles, too.
And, sharing that hatred, I can't understand your liking of Hotel California. I just found it so pretentious, and as you so aptly put it, overplayed.

12. I'm a big fan of the Eagles, but I'm kinda "Meh" about Hotel California
It's okay, but there are plenty of Eagles songs that I like a lot more; Tequila Sunrise, Peaceful Easy Feeling, and Seven Bridges Road are probably my top three favorites.
