1. What! You people have no love for Daisy Duck?
That's just sad.

2. It's her association with Disney I have problems with.
If she were a Warner Brothers or Hanna-Barbera cartoon, I might feel differently. I'm more of a Betty Rubble kind of guy, myself.

3. Time for the obligatory Red Dwarf Reference...
LISTER: "Do you think Wilma is sexy?"
CAT: "Wilma Flintstone?"
LISTER: "Maybe we've been alone in deep space too long but every time I see that show her body drives me crazy! ... is it me?"
CAT : "I think, in all probability ... Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman who ever lived."
LISTER: "That's good, I thought I was going strange."
CAT: "She's incredible."
LISTER: "What do you think of Betty?"
CAT: "Betty Rubble? Well ... I would go with Betty, but I'd be thinking of Wilma."
LISTER: "This is crazy! Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?"
CAT: "You're right ... we're nuts ... this is an insane conversation."
Lister: "She'll never leave Fred and we know it."

4. Why does everyone hate disney.
We got the Southern baptists all pissed off about them allowing gays into disney world on one hand, and then people here hate them too. What did they do?

5. They were used to propagandize for the US govt in the 3rd World
during the cold war. I think of Disney as fundamentally right wing. Walt, I believe, was himself fundamentally right wing.

I also find the Disney ethos to be foreign. Too sappy. Too self-conscious. Not funny enough.

6. Perverted social setting
No parents, only uncles/aunts. Everyone is a selfish, vapid materialist. Daisy sends Donald and (the goose with the luck, whatshisname) into alpha male competitions to determine worthyness to boyfriend status. And don't get me started about Uncle Scrooge.

8. What does it mean that Goofy is the only father in the Disney cosmos?
Is there a Mrs. Goofy?

13. Nah, he had a kid in tow back in the day.
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 02:23 PM by JVS
He had a wife too, but she was seldom seen

"For Sigvald: Goofy DID have a wife. She was shown in a few Goofy shorts in the
1940s and 1950s. I assumed that in the other shorts with his son, where the
mother was not shown, she was away, visiting her mother, or recuperating in a
mental "rest home". After all, can you imagine living for years together with
Goofy????"

16. Ohhhhh, yeah I remember that
I was thinking more of the comic book Disney universe, which is extremely rigid.

10. It's not even the Daisy DUCK appreciation thread.
So far only one person is on board appreciating Daisy Duck. I will say this much: I appreciate her more than I do Donald Duck.

It's all flowers and sunshine coming out the ass with Mickey.
