Oy: The complaint thread
x(

I posted the happy thread a few days ago. This is the unhappy thread.

I am tired of dropping things because my hands don't work. I am tired of spilling things and staining everything I own. I am tired of always being clumsy.

I am tired of having migraine headaches Every. God. Damned. Single. Day. x(

I am tired of being so exhausted that I don't want to drag my sore bones out of bed, yet not being able to get any sleep.

I am tired of the way my current combination of meds makes me feel confused. :grr:

I am tired of needing handfulls of pills.

I am tired of needing three of those pills just to manage the side effects of other pills.

I am tired of being afraid to go to sleep, because I don't know what pain will start while I'm asleep, when I won't be fast enough to medicate to deal with it.

I'm normally an optimistic and a happy person. But I'm worn out right now. I'm in a really bad mood and I'm in a hell of a lot of pain. I want it all to just go away.

And I can't do that right now.

Right now I can't embrace it. Right now I can't do anything but hate it. :grr:

3. My dear ThomCat...
I am so sorry you're hurting so much right now...

I gotta give you props for one thing: You are very eloquent, even in the midst of your pain!

I want all your pain to go away too...

Damn, but I wish I could help more!

I suppose that has some value. :)

My first thought was, "I wonder how many milligrams of morphine that's worth." :P

6. Are you channeling me?
Most of that sounds like me at any given moment, and what's wrong with me is mostly comparatively trivial.

On the other hand, I've gotten used to dropping shit constantly. I act like I do it because I'm old, not because my hands are fucked up.

I hope you feel better soon ... or get better drugs!

10. I wish this was just signs of old age.
I think I could deal with that pretty happily at this point. :P

The meds that might improve my hands are making the migraines headaches worse and more frequent.

The meds that control the migraines mess with my sleep.

Everything messes with something else.

18. I'm 43
So the old age is really a joke.

The drugs that might help my hands would make my kidneys fail even faster, so I can't take them (I'm in Stage 2/3 failure now; no Iron Kidney!).

Fortunately, the drugs for my migraines just increase the number of kidney stones but don't decrease kidney function. Since I've been passing stones every 30-45 days for 20 years, passing another type once in a while is not a big deal.

The pain meds I can take keep me up, so I definitely feel ya there.

Hope you get some rest!

I'm pretty much pulling double-shifts where I work ( for no extra money, by the way...it's a non-profit ) As far as the pills go....do they make you "happy"? cause I could really use some of those fuckers right about now.

And I always look forward to going to sleep...it's my favorite part of the day

I know my meds will keep me zombified tomorrow. It seems like I lose my Saturdays now. I take the Methotrexate on Fridays, spend Saturday in a daze, coming out of that only when the migraines start.

I'd much rather be able to just go into the office and work 7 days per week. :(

Does it piss you off?
(He has MS and suffers from all of the symptoms you just described at one time or the other, or all at once. When he talks about it, he, in his idiosyncratic and humorous way, always acknowledges anger. Now, you can see the difference between us right here, I go into a long explanation and he would have left the comment as is. I love that man. And I hope you feel better soon)

21. I have migraines, no job, and no health insurance.
So for the last two migraines I took vicodin and slept on and off for a couple of days until I was completely nauseous. Vomiting sometimes breaks the migraine. I am awake in the middle of the night with a headache, and its getting worse.

Its called the Bush health care plan.

I couldn't function without Imitrex (but my insurance only pays for 9 tablets a month!). I wake up with them during the night, too. I usually have crazy dreams and wake up with a migraine. I cannot identify a trigger. I get them about every other night. Miserable.

One thing about me, I might have symptoms while waiting for the goddamn bean counters to approve my medication but the extreme fatique is actually making it easier to sleep..I was out like a light before 9pm last night...My chief complaint then would be that it is physically impossible for me to have much of a social life..But I am lucky to not really be in chronic pain only the occasional bad headache/itching....

42. I'm sorry, ThomCat - that just sucks

I wish I could help somehow.

My mom has chronic, excruciating pain that is managed with pain pills 4 times per day, but she also has a patch that releases meds constantly over a 3-day period. New patch every 72 hours - and it does provide a lot of steady relief and keeps the pain from ever galloping away with her (as you mentioned - worry in the night that something will start that you can't then catch up with). Has your doctor ever mentioned anything like that? I don't have any idea if it would work for you, but it has made my mom's life bearable...
