So I was going to ask this cute girl I know if she wanted to get coffee sometime...
...but I chickened out. Then, on Sunday, SHE asked ME! Exactly the way I would have asked her!

Um, what's going on here? She's attractive, smart, and single, and I'm....well, I'm skeptical. Don't people ever get coffee with platonic friends?

Planning to call her up this evening. Advice, please.

2. Good on you. Be nice and enjoy her company.
My SO picked me out of the Internet Lineup. Worked for me.

4. We met in kind of an unusual way...
...she was cast in a musical I wrote (book, music, and lyrics) and had performed in a reading over the weekend. I liked her from the beginning, but couldn't make a move because of the conflict of interest; instead I bonded with her through the cast & crew get-togethers we took part in.

She's not a stranger by any means, but...I honestly never thought she'd ask me before I had a chance to ask her.

Who gets into musical theater to meet girls, anyway? Nobody!

6. You displayed talent, obviously.
Most of the time, guys act like lumps and women see them as boring. If you can come up with something creative and touching, they see you differently.

7. Not to mention laugh-your-ass-off hilarious, if I do say so myself.
In other news, my team and I are trying to mount this thing Off-Broadway. The sky's the limit!

3. You know, that sounds promising.
The way she asked you, just like you would have asked her, and around the same time. That sounds like you might have a connection.

My husband and I do that a lot with each other.

I agree, relax, be yourself, have fun!

8. Relax. Enjoy the coffee.
Be yourself. Talk about interesting stuff. Most importantly, even though you may be nervous, remember to *listen*. Oh, and try not to think about teh sex. :)

9. DO NOT "be yourself"!!
If you are not successful at getting dates, it is because something is wrong with you. Normal people have no problems getting dates.

Ok, ok...I am being sarcastic. But I, personally, identified aspects of myself for elimination and modification. I have never been a "be yourself" kind of guy...except when I was tragically single, of course. g.

13. It's an original musical comedy.
With lots of sex, drugs, drinking, and debauchery in it. And romance. And Conservative-bashing. And really, really good music.

If last Saturday was any indication, it's also friggin' hysterical.

11. She must have a serious character flaw. Relax, have a
good time, and let her set the topic if she seems to be inclined. She will probably be interested in getting to know you, so be yourself. Relax, have fun.
