It's a total kneejerk reaction. Anyone else?

12. This one sounds like trouble, you’re going to need plenty of legal advice before this thing is over
And my first advice is that you should rent a very fast car with no top. This blows my weekend, because naturally I’ll have to go with you. And we’ll have to arm ourselves.

11. I passed through.
Amongst backpackers, there was a convergence of travellers heading east and those heading west. For those of us who just came through India, Nepal and Burma it seemed very modern. It was fun to watch the westerners with their Thai "girlfriends" - for the day. The druggie backpackers were paranoid due to the death by machine gun penalty if caught.

No I didn't partake. There was a Swedish lass I met briefly in Calcutta and ran into. We were negotiating travelling together. Alas, our plans and tickets sent us in different directions.

13. It's funny you say that. A guy from our book club goes there for a few months each year
and from the reports and pictures he sends, I really have my suspicions about why he goes. I know he lives in a house with prostitutes (claims that their services are off limits to him), but a picture he showed us from a restaurant with a couple of really young girls who, he claimed, sat at his table so they wouldn't get carted out, raised some serious red flags. I don't feel totally comfortable around him now. He is ten or twelve years older than I and WAY older than the girls in the picture. He seems addicted to Thailand.

17. LOL, well I said "CLAIMS"......
I can't help it, he creeps me out now. It doesn't help that he's going grey and he's got great big tufty grey eyebrows, and wears his shirt a little unbuttoned and there's a big grey tuft of chest hair, too! I guess I admire that he's not making a concession to age, but it points out the age difference with the people in his picture much more dramatically.

23. As if there's nothing else in the whole motherfucking country
Dude :wtf:

I've had family members go there on their honeymoons with their newly-wed wives. I know several women who have gone there. My girlfriend has lived there briefly. I've always wanted to go and plan to someday.

Sometimes, YOU are the pervert for having those thoughts in your mind.

26. My knee-jerk reaction is that some westerners have an elitist superiority complex
over other countries. People travel to Vancouver for a good time too.

27. It has nothing to do with elitism
It just has to do with a kneejerk reaction due to the kind of media attention thailand receives.
