Of course, being an O's fan--strike that, a first place O's fan :) :) :)--I'm a bit partial here.

Any idea what they'll do for the Blue Crabs, Bertha?

12. YMCA is popular at the Baysox games (O's AA team nearby)
I rather hope for Sweet Caroline, m'self.

But my all time favorite is Thank God. (And in a name-dropping moment I'll tell you that John Denver was a distant cousin.)

:hi:

14. Ehh--Sweet Caroline has already been co-opted by loud drunk Red Sox fans....
....(God love 'em).

Ah, the Baysox. Have some good memories of going to PG Stadium with my friends in my teen years.

I remember going to a lot of North Stars games. :D

I heard Hava Nagila earlier in life than baseball/hockey games (I was born out east).

11. 'Rock and Roll Part II'
HEEEYYY! :headbang:

And then the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop." (Clearly, stadium music directors don't know the lyrics beyond "Hey, ho, let's go!")

Also, the PA guy, Buddy, used to play "They're Coming to Take Me Away" when the opposing pitcher got taken out at the local minor league games. Bob, another Bleacher Creature, and I would get up and dance like loons and lip-sync to it. :D

17. Too bad Rock and Roll Part II is performed by a pedophile
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Glitter

Gary Glitter (born May 8, 1944) is an English rock and pop singer and songwriter who had a string of chart successes with a collection of 1970s glam rock hits including "Rock and Roll parts 1 & 2", "I Love You Love Me Love", "I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am)" and "Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again". He is currently in jail in Vietnam for child sexual abuse, and is expected to be released in August 2008.

In 1999, Glitter was convicted for downloading 4,000 child pornography pictures in the UK, and was afterwards listed as a sex offender. His reputation was greatly tarnished, and though he continued releasing new music, Glitter's popularity declined sharply. He was permanently evicted from Cambodia in 2002 for suspected child sexual abuse offences. He afterwards relocated to Vũng Tàu in Vietnam, and in March 2005 applied for permanent resident status. Later that year, he was arrested by Vietnamese authorities while trying to leave the country, and he was tried and convicted of child sexual abuse charges in 2005-06. Glitter's release date is August 2008. In April 2007 his lawyer announced that he was appealing for a second time against the length of his sentence (having had it cut by 3 months in the first appeal) but the appeal was rejected.

Kinda spoils the mood for me. :puke:

Mel Allen (RIP) narrating This Week in Baseball was a staple of my preteen years.

Every week, I would anticipate whether Orioles outfielder Mike Devereaux would make the "Plays of the Week" with catches like this:

Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 07:03 PM by Rabrrrrrr
God, I love singing that at the baseball games!!

Nothing like an entire stadium of baseball fans breaking into 16 to 32 part atonal harmony and singing one of the most sacred of texts from the Latin Mass for the Dead. It just says "This is America, and this is baseball, a truly American game!" to me.

We usually do it during the Seventh Inning Stretch, right after "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 11:03 PM by JonathanChance
Roll out the barrel,
We'll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the barrel,
We've got the blues on the run
Zing! Boom! Tararrel!
We'll sing a song of good cheer
Roll out the barrel,
'Cause the gang's all here!

GO BREWERS!

Playoffs this year for sure!

I've never heard of the song being used this way, but it would be sweet, with or without the irony.
