So yesterday I took Jack and Guinness out for a walk out back.
Everything went fine until we got to the wettest, muddiest , most slippery, most greasy part of the path.

That's when Jack spotted four bad deer browsing up ahead.

and that's how I ended up sitting in the mud.

On the way back, we saw a hen pheasant. :)

1. Your pet thread without pictures taunts me.
It aches me, it galls me.

3. So today I took Jack and Guinness for a walk out back.
We were going along fine when a little animal came out of the woods and trotted away down the path.

A rabbit? No, right size but rabbits aren't red with black legs and a big bushy tail... it was a FOX!

Did I ever tell you that Guinness is part beagle?

So, I dove onto the dry ground and hung on, then reeled the dogs in. (Thanks again to whoever suggested the dog harnesses to me last year!:)

I figured all the excitement was over for the day, and walked on, but when we hit a wet patch, Bambi made an appearance.

Did you know that two dogs can drag a chubby middle aged woman on her back through the mud? I thought my jeans were a mess yesterday, but today they got my pants AND my t-shirt!

No further adventures on our walk, but you should see the strange tracks I left!

4. Thankfully, my Guiness is a little smaller....don't think he can drag me through the mud
But then, you never know.

6. My Guinness was supposed to be half beagle, half Labrador, but I
think his other half is German Shepherd. He's got short legs but a very strong body. Jack is some kind of hound mix. Guinness weighs 50 lbs and Jack weighs 70, so you can see why I tend to hit the dirt to restrain them when they want to take off!

8. One day I intend to have half a dozen dogs like yours.
The thought of a thundering herd answering the door charms me!

5. The tale of this walk and the one posted below are
too funny hedgehog.

I have been trying to walk my two dogs more lately, however, I drive them to the bikepath to avoid exactly your predicament. I have woods in the back - but the last time I trekked out there, I looked like the lady of the trees when I came out...I had tree branches sticking out from my hair, etc., from being hauled through there.

:hi:

How is rattlecat?

7. He's having a good time sitting in his basket on the buffet snoozing in the sun.
I woke up this morning with him on my pillow. He wanted a good stroking and then dismissed when when he'd had enough.

9. Nice to hear....
I saw a fox on my walk with the dogs two days ago.

I thought they were primarily nocturnal and this woman came racing down the path at me to tell me to get my dogs away - there was a FOX!

I could see it up ahead, and I did turn back since she was so alarmed.

10. A few years ago a young fox grabbed one of my chickens but
didn't know what to do next. I went out and chased it with a broom, it dropped the chicken and it ran one way and the chicken ran another.

We used to have a cat that once treed a fox on top of a snow bank. The horrible barking woke us up, and there in the moonlight was the fox on top of the snow barking at Smoky who was circling the base. Smoky and the fox had a running dispute for a few years until they mutually decided that Smoky would stay on this side of the road and the fox on the other. I think Smoky used to go over there looking for the den.
