My turn to ask for the vibes
So.. life was pretty good. My other is out of work for the past few months, but we've always lived modestly, so it merely meant a little less going to savings and paying off the car loan. We were/are still doing ok.

Anyhow... its been a really mixed but rough week. The good, I just got a really nice new free computer, and my future motherinlaw just got a giant nice tv, courtesy of my boss.

The bad... I'm pretty sure my boss will be getting a ticket in the mail. I saw the flash at the intersection, and was driving the company car. I let him know, but its not a nice thought. If so it will be my first ticket as an adult, and I'm not sure what it would do to me for work insurance. Plus my other is suffering supreme back pain for the past 2 days, which is major discouragement in searching for work. all of which comes on the back of several weeks of lack of sleep.

I need some good vibes, please.

1. My dear quakerboy...
It's a very good thing you did, telling your boss about the possible ticket...

I'm hoping he'll be understanding...

Good vibes to you and to your partner...

I hope that your partner's back pain will disappear very soon...

2. Thank you
He didn't seem too unhappy, his main comment is they take a long time to show up anyway. And he still gave us the TV, so he must not be too PO'd. I just know that now of all times is not a good time to have a new increase in costs anywhere. I don't think my job is at risk, but its still just a crap on my week. MY other and I were just about to have 3 major drops in our personal insurance(marrage, her turning 25, her most recent tickets timing out), so this is a bummer in that regard too. That was going to be another few bucks a month to save or put toward student loans.

3. I got four tickets while working for the Boston Globe, all on company trucks.
I wouldn't sweat it...bosses know that stuff happens when people use company vehicles. No one is perfect, and if your boss is cool enough to give out tv's then s/he is probably cool enough to understand a ticket. It will end up on your own insurance, which sucks, but the boss thing should be ok.

As for your other, my best, as I know all too well what the lack of sleep can do, physically and mentally. I hope things get better all around for both of you! :toast:

4. That makes me feel a little better
I ran a red for the first time in years, because I was paying more attention to the (drunk?) guy trying to merge into me than the light, and hoping to make an amber to get as far from him as possible.

How does the ticket get transfered over to my insurance? Does anyone know how bad a ticket running a light is(ticket itself, and the effect on insurance)?

5. It may be different in your state.
I'm in Mass (Insurance Hell). When I got the tickets it raised my personal rates even though it was a company vehicle I was using because I was still the driver, so my own insurance went up with each ticket, to the point where my rates were a couple hundred more than they would have been. About six years back I got into a fender bender and my insurance went up about three hundred the first year, and another couple for two years after that. Mass is really messed up when it comes to auto insurance, so hopefully wherever you are has a sane policy. :)

6. I received one of those red light tickets last year
and so far, it hasn't affected my insurance rates. I live in Georgia, so it could be different in other states.

7. Good vibes are free for the giver and can mean a lot to the receiver.
So, here are some. I think you are going to be OK, as well. Maybe the flash was looking at the erratic driving of the drunk? Either way, a free, new TV and computer are things to be happy about.

Plain Tylenol can aid sleep, as can Benadryl and Sleepytime tea; lack of sleep does seem to be a vicious cycle.

Stress can exacerbate back pain; maybe your wife could use an anti-inflammatory med, some yoga stretches, warm packs and calming music?
