Is it too much to ask?
I always try to do my grocery shopping around noon on Friday. I leave work at noon and go get it done so we don't have to waste gas and half of our Saturday going all the way back into town on this task. There are always women about my age or so doing the same. I'm always friendly, smile as we pass, and sometimes strike up short conversation.

Today when I was putting my groceries in the car, a lady pulled up and got out of her car. She came over to me and asked, "What kind of greens are those?" I told her they were turnip greens and she asked how I prepare them. So I told her and we talked a little bit. She asked my name and I told her. She put out her hand and introduced herself. She then proceeded to try to sell my Mary Kay.

Is it too much to ask to be friendly and talk to people because it's the nice thing to do? Why do people see fit to feign interest just to try to sell you something? Really disappointing that some people view others as nothing but a target.

17. LOL
Is there a male equivalent for those types of home sales/pyramid scheme kinda things? I don't think there is.

That would make a good comedy sketch, tho. :hi:

3. "Sorry, I'm a Clinique girl."
Okay, I'M not, but that's what I would've said in response to something so tacky.

4. I hate that.
She would have known it too by the expression on my face.

(note to lounge: you don't want me as a poker partner.)

5. Well, I didn't
get snarly, snarky either. I just told her I stopped wearing make-up, which is true. But still. That really stinks.

12. That is awful and so tacky.
I went to Las Vegas last year and i have the window seat, this woman in the middle and another woman on the other side of her, the middle one---mary kay sales, going to a convention (i don't give a shit lady and your make up is on so heavy it looks like you're late for your own viewing, hurry now, the mourners are waiting) she tried to sell us both and after 10 minutes i said "Listen, i understand you're in sales and quite frankly i don't appreciate the pitch because i cannot escape and that's really unfair", well she blanched and looked forward the whole time, the other lady was smirking the rest of the way to Vegas.
