1. Not a bit of it.
Got five boxes in the freezer. And there they'll stay until July, when the summer heat compels the feasting upon some ice-cold Thin Mints.

4. Oh, jeez. When you were a kid you probably made your
Halloween candy last until Easter.

Mine was gone by, like, November 3rd.

Besides, I've got the Do-Si-Dos and Tagalogs and Trefoils to keep me company until then.

33. well there MAY be trans fat - just less than 0.5 grams per serving
Stupid loophole - Canada measures down to .2 or .3 grams. And I think companies are making "serving sizes" smaller and smaller to squeak in under the .5 gram cutoff.

40. read post 33 from Kath.
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 03:33 AM by crappy diem
I'm too tired to look up the article but Kath is correct.

The rethuglicon govt decided that is is perfectly acceptable
for corporations to lie to consumers by allowing companies to put the
words....zero trans fat on the packaging -- IF there is .05 or less
per serving.

The only way to know if there is any trans fat (no amount
is safe) is to actually read the list of ingredients for
hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated.

Until they come up with a new word to cover it up.

Schwan's frozen foods came up with electronic
pastuerizatioin to cover up the fact that the food
has been radiated.

27. Go to the girlscouts.org site,
find your council and then find the dates for sales. Sometimes they put the dates and times, along with the locations, for outside sales.

Right when I'm trying to get back on the 'losing weight' wagon.

Unfortunate side effect of quitting a manual labor job... I'm no longer doing heavy exercise 20-25 hours a week. :\ I've taken up ice skating now that I actually have lots of rinks in the area, but that's about it so far.

Anything after that cannot be affiliated with a GS troop. That's what really sucks.

In our council, we can do outside fundraisers as long as we do both the fall fundraiser (nuts I think it is) and the cookie sales.

43. We've always been told that it can only be GS-approved.
Supposedly council picks the official fundraisers and then they get approval. This way no one can just claim to be a GS doing a fundraiser, since some will try to rip others off.

The parents can have a fundraiser and call it something like (for example): The mothers of GS Troop #(we'll say 5150 for example)-as long as it's something that will not raise too many eyebrows. Even then you have to be careful with what the fundraiser is.

Check what the actual fundraisers are called sometime. Supposedly, according to both our old and new council and other area councils (within a few states) we can't do a fundraiser unless it's officially GS-sanctioned.

I've been looking into the fundraisers and boy is it a mess!

41. Butter cookies are my nemesis
Each Christmas season I get me one of those mega-tins of butter cookies. Each January I find myself craving them again as all that I have left is a big empty tin "hatbox". I am by the way munching some as I type this post. How is THAT you ask? Well this year I got sneaky: I purchased a dozen of the smaller sized tins which only hold 60 cookies each. If I time it right and only allow myself 1 tin per month I should make it to next Christmas before I run out! It is my hope that the butter in the butter cookies doesn't go bad over time 'lest my scheme be screwn!'

I think this proves that butter cookies are at least as evil as thin mints. (Equally yummy too imo)

on the grounds of false advertising. It says right on the box, "Thin Mints." I ate box after box and you know what happened? I got fat. That is some serious false advertising. If they were called Butt Expanding Mints, I wouldn't have bought and eaten a case. So what do you say? Are you in on the lawsuit?
