I've just been royally screwed over by HR
As some of you may know, I am in the process of being hired permanently by my employer. I am in desperate need of this as I have no health insurance and have health issues.
Well I went for my pre-employment physical and SURPRISE they found I have health issues (the whole platelet thing is bad 100-400 is normal and I usually run between 500-700 but I got a reading of 1,450 on Monday,).
I was hoping to get my start date pushed up so I could go to the hematologist with insurance next week (I've put off going for several months now because of it).
Well guess what? HR informs me that they can't medically clear me to start until I go to the doctor!!
ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Fortunately, my hem. in the past has offered to write off a visit if I have insurance issues. Hopefully he will remember that promise!
But still...HR is fucking evil evil evil!!!

Until we get rid of private (for profit) insurance this BS will continue.

:grr:

8. Yep.
This is why I go ballistic when Chimpy and his flunkies talk about nationalized health care as a bad thing.:nuke:

2. Number 1
I hope that everything is all right with you TZ and that you just need a baby aspirin once a day or something!

2. I know you are frustrated, but try not to let the morans of the world and their moranic policies get you down-- life is too short!

3. Watch The Office if that sort of thing provides cathartic relief (or just keep watching Tap) :D

4. There is no number 4; get back to work! :P

4. I have been doing the baby aspirin thing for awhile now
actually for this issue. For awhile I was on a mild chemotherapeutic drug to control it when the symptoms (raging headaches, extreme fatigue, itching in the shower) so it may be back to that.
But whats odd is I am fairly symptom free right now, which puzzles me.

Your other suggestions are good ones. As for the getting back to work..HMMPH. Usually I am little miss productivity but not today! (I don't have much work anyway). Maybe I'll watch Tap again tonight...:-)

5. Damn it, that sucks.
Hope the hematologist comes through.

I'll send some bad vibes towards the HR department. With any luck, they'll develop a hangnail or two.

10. Seriously, some people treat the title 'scum of the earth' as if it were a trophy they should race
for.

Because they are fucking stupid.

11. with insurers sending letters to doctors looking for excuses to exclude people from benefits...
we are all headed for the same leaky boat you are in.

I know it doesn't make you feel any better, but as more people who have been paying for insurance and THINKING they were actually covered face this tactic by the bean counters, we WILL have a big push for single payer/universal care soon.

The working middle class is having their premium checks cashed and their claims turned down. That won't go on much longer.

12. Final indignity of the day...
I thought once I was hired I would move up from open air (but roomy) desk to my own cozy cubicle. Hell no! I have to share an office with someone-Its okay for one person, but this means I actually will have LESS room than I do now. I know there are empty cubes too which makes this total crap.

14. So, essentially, you need to get healthy before they will let you afford to get healthy?
Sorry, Sue. I guess if in the end you're healthy and not bankrupt, it will be a good thing.

15. Tell me again why so-called "socialized medicine" is a bad thing.

I keep forgetting. :banghead:

Seriously, if this isn't a classic example of the long-festering health-care mess in the country, I don't know what is.

16. I'm so sorry you're going through this!
I retired in 2001 (luckily I had enough years in and was able to do so). Have to pay my med insurance off the top of my pension $653/mo, but diverted to an HMO plan this year just to survive. When I went to the company Christmas party I heard from SEVERAL people they are pushing Baby Boomers out the door just so they don't have to pay the medical insurance rates.

Then the company (City Govt) was crying to all the newspapers about how they're "losing" all the experienced workers and it takes YEARS to train apprentices. DUH, how can THAT possibly happen?

Good luck! Keep your chin up and keep hanging in there. Someday karma will come knocking on their own doors!
