3. I thought of our friend Beth who hung out with him by the pool.

Many years ago our friend Beth went to Hollywood with a screenwriter friend who had a project to finish. She and Beth kept company at night, during the day Beth hung out by the fancy schmancy hotel pool. She struck up a conversation the first day with Roy, having not a clue who he was. In fact he sought her out every day after that first meeting and they talked about all kinds of things. She didn't know until they were leaving who he was. I think he was probably thrilled to talk to someone who had nothing to do with the biz.
