1. Because people expect science and math to be done correctly,
but for some reason, in the Bovine Dorito-stuffing sports-obsessed intelligence-fearing mediocrity that is America, speaking or writing or using language correctly is seen to be elitist and arrogant and thus pointing out bad usage is Nazi-like, because there is no such thing as bad usage in the minds of 99% of the fat-assed ignorant nincompoops that make up this country.

2. Well, that's kinda my point
If it's acceptable to say "Your an moran," why isn't it just as acceptable to say 1+1=Albuquerque or that water boils at 98.6 degrees Fahrvenugen?

3. Probably because most people have never met anyone who knows anything about math or science

4. Maybe it's because English grammar and spelling are not dictated by logic...
and therefore need another kind of dictator to define them.

5. Shouldn't those be quotation marks

...instead of apostrophes around the subject terms in the OP?

9. ohhhh nooooo!!!!!! Just struck me funny. God, we HATED the Math Nazi.
Every B-movie stereotype of a bad teacher rolled into one. He never hit students, but, damn, you thought he was going to hit you.

First time since high school (a very long time ago) that I've heard the phrase "math Nazi"
