There is nothing worse
Than not being able to escape from yourself.

2. I have a basement full of tools.
I think they are all broken. Either that, or I forgot how to use them.

3. Tell me about it.
No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what its like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They arent as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
Thats never free

No one knows what its like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They arent as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
Thats never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

(Don't know who to credit for the lyrics, but it was performed by The Who.)

6. I don't think I would mind...
experiencing the life that Jerry did.

He had his demons, but he also experienced some incredible beauty and he maintained a wicked sense of humor and a sense of purpose.

Many people don't realize what a hard-working man he was.

I think he got 500 years worth of enjoyment from his music in his short 53 year life.

I think he was incredibly intelligent and perceptive...and with that sometimes comes the demons.

9. There was never a kinder voice in rock than Jerry Garcia's.
The world needs more kindness.

10. You take you with you wherever you go.
:D

actually, I have found my hospice volunteer work to be deeply fulfilling for the precise reason that it takes me out of myself. I get to transcend my own personality shit and drama when I am in service to those who are on the edge of death. It's hard to put into words, but it's incredibly rewarding.
