Need help with TSA rules - can I carry-on a full size hair dryer?

There is nothing on their website about this. I am flying domestically on Southwest. I really don't want to have to buy a hairdryer after arriving at my destination.

Has anyone done this since they changed the carry-on rules in 06?

I suppose you could choke someone with the cord, but I travel with the AC cable of my laptop all the time...

Of course, you never know when some autocratic power-tripping TSA worker (that's right, Boston Logan, I'm talking about you!) will make up his own rules and decide that your dryer looks too much like a gun or something...
