Do Australians call it "Oz?"
Or is that just something that people who aren't from there call it? Like "Frisco?"

2. Yep. Some of them anyway..
I was chatting by e-mail with an Aussie friend and he was worried that he offended me with something he said, and was not sure because as he put it "Translating Oz speak into American speak can be tricky".
On the other hand I had an Aussie boss who never once used to the term.

7. If by "it" you mean "vagina" or "perpetual motion machine" or "bagel", then the answer is "no".
If you mean "Australia", then the answer is "yes".

9. I met an American-born
woman a couple of years ago who had married an Australian and was back here for a visit. IIRC she lived around Perth. I asked and she said yes, some do.
When my dad was in the Merchant Marine during WWII he visited Australia and NZ. Thought both were way cool, or the cat's meow or whatever you said back then.
