I better just get this over with. Hmmmm...
I hear that people do funny stuff with their 1000th posts. I usually like to try & be funny (already got a few DUzy's under my belt after just over a month) but it doesn't really seem right for this dubious occasion of having said "K&R" 500 times, couple'a silly polls and a few odd empty posts with smiley faces. 'cause right now I'm not really in a funny kind of mood.
So hopefully without looking like TOO much of a suck-up, I'll just thank the mods for not kicking me out on my ear after several rule violations and a couple of dust-ups early on. Woulda been easy to do with so many newbies here doin' crazy stuff.
And say that you guys have a heck of a community here... Much more than just a message board. Donation drives to America's Second Harvest, fellow DU'ers in need.. it's something to see. I like it.
Also like to dedicate my 1000th post to a couple of notable people: Molly Ivins, who passed away Jan. 31, 2007.. she is still sorely missed by many and we'll all spend the rest of our lives wondering at certain points, "What would Molly have written about this?"
And to Elizabeth Edwards, who is dying of cancer and made the choice to spend many of her precious remaining days campaigning with John. Anyone who is still parroting the "phony" and/or "liar" narrative about John Edwards should be ashamed of themselves for basically insulting Elizabeth's intelligence and faith in the man she loves. But that of course is a subject for another forum, (rant off).
Thanks for putting up with me so far, y'all, and here's to a Democratic President this time next year.
