My new vacuum cleaner sucks!
And I like it! :-)

I can't believe how much stuff it is sucking up. The surface of the carpet looked fairly clean, but the dust cup is nearly filled. I almost want to stay home from work and vacuum all day. :P

6. I bought a Eureka
The Boss, a 12 amp bagless system. I even comes with an electrostatic duster. You put it in a side cup to charge is up and it spins to charge up. After you're done dusting, you put it back in the holder and it spins clean. Pretty cool, huh?

I bought it at Costco and it even came with a bonus corded hand vac. This was about the middle of the line. I'm sorry, but I'm not spending $350+ on vacuum cleaner.

17. Sounds like a pretty cool gadget

Bagless? I must be a bit behind the times, but how does that work exactly?

And don't knock expensive vacuum cleaners! :-) For me, it seems like everytime I bought a cheap vacuum cleaner, it would conk out or start becoming extremely troublesome after only a year or so. My frustration level was off the charts, and so I went out and spent $500(!!) on a vacuum cleaner in the hope that it'd be trouble-free and the last vacuum I'd need to buy for many, many years. My hopes have proven correct!

:hi:

19. All the stuff vacuumed empties into a canister that can be emptied.
So, no filling landfills with vacuum bags. Just the dust.

21. Not knocking the expensive ones
When I make purchases, I tend to weigh things in the terms of the value it adds to my life. I hate housework and even buying a really good vacuum cleaner, wouldn't change that.

Thus, I'll buy a serviceable vacuum cleaner but won't hesitate on buying a $1,750 bicycle. I have really crappy TVs, too. Not that I can't afford better, just not worth it to me.

22. Very sensible
I agree completely. For me, it was a matter of the value the inexpensive ones were removing from my life. But maybe I just had a run of bad luck. Or maybe I'm just a klutz who can't be trusted around electronic appliances unless they are foolproof. :-)

23. I agree on the expensive vacuum cleaners
I kept buying 'good value' vc's that died in a few years. I finally bought a $400 dollar basic expensive vacuum cleaner. It has lasted 8 years so I have saved money in the long term. I will never buy a vacuum cleaner with plastic housing..ever. Well, I may buy one at a garage sale, but not new.

26. LOL
Not a chance I will imply that. I have a long haired dog and cat, two kids, and we take a toll on a vacuum cleaner. :P Maybe I was just unlucky.

5. I feel that way about my commercial Oreck
I just called and told them I was in the house cleaning business, and got one of their commercial vacs. Dear gawd, it'll suck the threads out of the carpet!

14. I once tried to get away with the headline
"Backpack vacuums: They suck...and they work!"
My editor wouldn't let me get away with that.

So I changed it to: "Profit and productivity on your back."
That didn't go over well either.

(I edit a trade publication serving the cleaning industry.)

18. Bagless...
In the interest of trying to keep this thread fairly clean (pun intended), I won't say what I originally was going to say. But having a vacuum with a canister instead of a bag is a smart idea, rather than having to pay for more of those disposable bags on down the line. As this model seems to come highly recommended, I'll have to look into that when my current one goes kaput.
