What would you do if...
you had someone in your life that accuses you (and just about everyone else they know) of having some various form of mental illness, personality defect, or disorder that you (along with most others) don't have? This same person pushes everyone away because no one is good enough to be around if they aren't essentially perfect. The person views herself as a martyr and kinder than most people at the same time. Whenever the person has a problem or difficulty in life, they want your support and shoulder to cry on. And if they are related to you? :banghead:

(Actually, I already know. I am cordial and place very healthy boundaries, but do not choose to be particularly close. I just have to deal with the shit of it every damned Christmas. :grr:)

1. Obviously this person
thinks that you are perfect if she has not pushed you away.

Other than boundaries I don't know what else you can do.

4. There is nothing else.
I've been handling it quite well for a long time. It's just damned frustrating. Sounds like you understand.

5. Let them push you away
Sounds like this person has their own issues to deal with. Its better for you to keep your distance thats for sure.
I have a close family member who thinks the world is out to get them and she can't possibly be wrong...And meanwhile has made incredibly poor choices in her life that has made the entire family miserable (including NOT showing up to the family function and depriving her 4 year old daughter of a nice holiday).
Be thankful its only Christmas that you have to deal with this shit. I no longer speak to multiple family members (or at least minimize contact) because it was making ME sick....

6. My dear SarahBelle...
I would stay the hell away...

Relative or not...

There are limits.

And I would not support this person in their difficulties...

Good luck with that!
