Netflix users: They have removed the ability to browse movies being released "this week"
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 04:31 AM by Godhumor
I just spoke with Netflix customer service trying to find the list of what's coming out this week and was told, "We are not a new release service, so that feature was removed to reduce clutter."

If you added newly released movies each week to your queue, please call them at 1-877-638-3549 (24 hours a day), and complain.

I can not believe a video service would remove such a service.

1. So, uh, what's the point of subscribing? I just canceled my account, BTW
I'm tired of being throttled.

And I'm looking for ways to save a few extra dollars a month.

2. That's total bullshit.
You can watch movies THAT AREN'T EVEN IN THEATERS YET online, but they can't even handle new releases DVD's??

3. Their new recommendation is to use an outside website to look up new releases
Then search for those titles on netflix to add them to your queue.

I'm really not happy about this change.

4. Well, the decision sucks, but here are the two best DVD sites I know of:
DVD Talk: http://www.dvdtalk.com/

DVD Verdict: http://www.dvdverdict.com/

Both aggressively update their new releases section. DVD Verdict has thumbnails of all new releases, DVD Talk has a text-only list.

5. WTF does THAT mean?
that they're trying to not stock the extra copies of new releases to meet the demand for them? WTF is the whole damned point for the customer then? Grrrr. Granted I've already got a queue that will last me well over a year but still, sometimes you want the latest thing.
