1. Just this once, yeah
It's not a complete and nutritionally balanced meal, but occasional feedings of tuna won't hurt them.

5. Good luck...
I hear it's not so good for them... but hers don't seem too adversely affected, aside from the fatness.

10. A little tuna once in awhile won't hurt them, though they shouldn't eat it all the time.
When I run out of cat food that's what my cats get, too. But here's the problem:

They like tuna a lot, and they remember.

So tomorrow, when you go to the store and buy cat food and then bring it home and put it in your cats' dishes, they will look up at you with a look that says,"What the hell is THIS? Are you expecting me to EAT it? Where's the fucking tuna?"

11. I let mine lick the can clean...
Mouse can smell that stuff from the other end of the apartment, I swear. She will NOT shut up until I give it to her. Luckily, with 2 teen boys to feed, I always use 2 at a time or poor Scooby would never get his share.

12. I only give mine
the water it's packed in. And, yes, she does smell it from far away! Uncanny!

16. used to give one of mine the oil from the tuna, and she always showed up
when I opened any can on the theory it might be tuna. Then when water packed tuna came out I gave her the water. It won't hurt them to have a can of tuna once in a hwile for a treat

14. My three get it every day
But just a little spoonful, at bedtime. They know it's their nitey-nite treat, and know they won't get it at any other time. I think it keeps their coats nice and shiny.

15. Whenever we run out of dog food the dog gets tuna too.
We have two cats and one dog - as much as we hated to do it we put the cat food up on the table to stop the dog from eating it. In times BC (Before Cats) we only had our dog and when we ran out of dog food, yes she got tuna mixed up with crackers. The bowl was clean empty in no time.

17. The day I found my two kitties, they got tuna because it was the only thing
we could find. We were helping my husband's sister move into a new house and found them in the attic. They were only a couple weeks old (not even weaned yet, I found out later) and they were shaking and starving. The mama cat had been trapped outside when the home builders had put the front door on the house and closed it up, so they were going to die if they didn't get something to eat. It was also Memorial Day weekend in the middle of the country, so no chance of finding a vet or a pet store open. So we dug around in boxes, found some tuna, mixed it with water, and let them lick it. They didn't quite get the concept but made a valiant effort. And it helped keep them from crying. I got them to a vet the next day and got them on kitten formula. They were just fine.

One of them is almost fifteen and still going strong. He's my heart and soul. And he still gets tuna once in awhile when I open a can.
