So exactly who is this Christian Carter asshole?
Have you heard of him?

One of my friends suggested I register at his website. Since then, I've been getting extremely annoying emails about how to "CATCH and KEEP" a man, like he's a freakin' trout or something.

Pearls of wisdom have included:

1. Don't sleep with a guy "too soon" (time frame not included--so just guess)
2. Don't be "predictable", or his attraction will magically end (must I be in a different country each time he calls...?)
3. Don't discuss any emotional issues at all, ever, God forbid, or it's all over, period
4. Don't assume that just because you've been dating for months you're in a "relationship" (WTF?)
5. Try to appear at all times to be a)selective b)unemotional c)hard-to-get d)a robot woman
6. In general, subvert any and all natural inclinations you may have as a woman, and pretend like nothing means really anything at all to you, or else any guy, anywhere, will run like the wind from you, because guys can't stand a woman that harbors an actual emotion that might pertain to said guy.

Um...who here would rather be alone than live by these strange rules...? (*raises hand*)

1. He's somebody who sells sets of CDs and DVDs for "only"
three easy payments of $39.99 a month. :-)

4. Sounds like another version of "The Rules"
Just game-playing bullshit. I think the main thing is be yourself (keep in mind at 39 I have had no successful relationships while being myself so you might want to take this advice with a grain of salt. Or perhaps the advice should be "don't be ME")

5. I know. I suck at playing games. I figure if a guy doesn't want me,
fuck 'im.

I can't pretend to be a way that I'm not.

8. It all depends on "where" you meet someone
as in online or in person, like at places of mutual interest such as DU or at yoga practice :)

My past-wife and I met online and were together almost 9 years (married a little over seven and a half years.) We really got to know each other online and I always likened it to people courting through the mail a hundred years ago. We didn't meet in person until 5 months after our first meeting and we had been "ourselves" the whole time. Another key point was that prior to our meeting, we had both pretty well given up on finding anyone and we were fine with that for the rest of our lives. Then we met :)

So, keep looking; I'm sure someone will turn up that you are a good match with :)

I agree, too, that this sounds like "rules" for the stereotypical man, but won't apply to all of us, thankfully! :D

10. I recently met a good guy.
I'm totally myself around him...honest and genuine. I don't hang on him, but I don't play games. I'm around when I say I will be and don't deliberately avoid him to seem "unpredictable".

According to this Christian Carter fellow, I'm screwed.

11. Sounds like the start of a beautiful friendship :)
if not more :D

Carter, on the other hoof, sounds like the epitome of a male chauvanistic pig for whom the typical/average male would identify with as sex is on their minds 24/7/365.

I wonder if he would spontaneously combust if anyone ever introduced him to Tantric intimacy?

Well, it wouldn't be spontaneous...but he would probably combust, I figure. :D

9. Thank you. You made my night.

Because I think I more or less know about men. Men and women are more alike than they are different, in general I think.

And then I read this kind of God-forsaken B.S. advice from a "typical" male and it seriously freaks me out. He makes it sound like men are basically easily-frightened androids with penises that roam the night unsupervised by their host.

Oh, and I'm not supposed to *talk* to them. :eyes:
