Do people hire caterers anymore?
Used to be that people would hire caterers for weddings, anniversary parties, etc. Now it seems everyone books a hotel and let's the hotel kitchen do it.

Am I wrong?

Maybe it's only small parties that are catered? Like bridal and baby showers....

1. There are a lot of caterers in business around here
so I guess a lot of people are hiring them.

Good thing too, because depending on the staff at the hotel or hall to provide food is an invitation for disaster. It's best to make sure you have a good caterer that you like and trust.

2. I've been thinking about culinary school
but I'm not sure I want to open a restaurant.

If I could buy a home w/ a decent kitchen, or rent space where I could set one up. I could do some catering.

3. There's also a growing busines for "Personal Chefs."
I would love to go to culinary school, but I know I'll never be able to do it. I hope you do, and I hope you really enjoy it.

4. A lot of it is location driven
If you pick a popular spot, chances are they have an in-house caterer (hotel) or they have a list of preferred caterers they want you to choose from. Duke Gardens, for instance, has a caterer that they work with and if you want your event in Duke Gardens, you have to use them, or make everything yourself and cart it in.

But yeah, caterers are as popular as ever.

5. Duke Gardens has a list of pre-approved caterers,
but others can be approved, too. How do I know this? I'm getting hitched there in April. ;-)

Caterers - as popular as ever, and three times more expensive than a cocaine-encrusted ferrari.

8. Ha. Congratulations!! How far
in advance did you have to reserve the pergola?

Good to know they will approve other caterers. :-)
