Have to say goodbye to the Saturn today.
I loved my SL2 four speed so much that when I gave it to my second son, I scrounged up a deal on an SL1. It's dying, slowly.

The heater core has to be replaced.
The radiator has to be replaced.
The engine oil burning has accelerated.
The electrics in cabin are starting to get screwy.

It's time.

I hate this.

So, I can't find another Saturn and I can get $2K-$3K for it event trading it in on a used vehicle. So what am I considering?

A BLAZER.

Kill me.

Yes, we do want to do some RV'ing with a trailer: we're old and the tent on the beach has lost its romantic magic. We can tow something reasonable with this Blazer.

FUCK do I feel guilty.

2. Did you think about buying a new Saturn?
The Ion isn't quite as nice looking as the old S series, but they seem decent.

The Aura looks like a great looking midsized Sedan. It's what I wanted to get before my wife conned me into getting her a new car and me taking her old Corolla. :banghead:

4. Can't AFFORD one.
I think the Saturn is going to get a repreive.

I just talked to 2 dealers, and they said that I should do the radiator and keep the car.

8. Saturn gets a "Stay of execution"
Leaving in 10 minutes to get the radiator done to the tune of $225 bucks.

The Saturn better HOPE it doesn't need the heater core too. I own GUNS.

9. Peace! I'm trying the radiator first!
I really didn't want to spend the money on vehicle or gas anyway.

13. I had to replace the radiator when I had a Saturn. They're plastic :/
Don't go to Firestone, Saturn dealers, etc. I went to the local Pep Boys and they had one for significantly less than list. Good luck.

10. I liked my SL1 too.
I hate the new Saturns; they are just re-badged Chevys. I liked that company before GM decided it should be just another GM brand. They used to be different, now they are boring.

Can't you find maybe a 2001 or 2002 Saturn? They probably wouldn't cost that much.

12. Oh no!
I love my 98 Saturn SL 1! Mr. Green Meanie wanted to trade it in so he could buy a Buick Rendezvous this summer. I said, "You'll have to pry my cold dead hand off of the stick shifter first!" He's got his new Buick, but I don't even care to drive it.

I loved my 92 SL 2 and my 95 SL 1, both leased. They are gas sippers even while driving at higher speeds. This latest one has only needed a new battery (@ 100,000 mi) and brakes (@ 106,000 mi). It is burning a little oil now at 110,000 mi... the rings are wearing a bit. My only complaints are that the interior door panels vibrate loudly when idling and it shimmies at speeds between 60-65 mph, but once I get up over 70mph she runs very smooth. It's likely to end up my son's first car when he starts driving in 2010.

I hope you can keep yours.

:hi:
