Community leaders call for Kroger boycott over closing store losing money.
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Clergy, civil rights and community leaders on Dayton's west side are so upset about losing a local supermarket that they're calling for a boycott of Kroger.

Reverend Jerome McCorry says if Kroger doesn't appreciate his dollar, he'll take it somewhere else.

A community meeting last night drew about 130 people, including several who said the elderly and poor in the neighborhood depend on the Kroger store and would have a hard time getting to another supermarket.

Cincinnati-based Kroger plans to shut down its location on Dayton's Gettysburg Avenue in January. Kroger operations vice president Reuben Shaffer said at the meeting that deciding to close the store wasn't easy, but it hasn't been making money.
