The answer to your question is that I always want my threads to generate a lot of replies, but I don't lose much sleep when that doesn't happen, and I only occasionally start threads just for that purpose, most recently and most notoriously a Bill Maher thread I started in GD that got about 250 replies in 24 hours before it vanished.
