Do you have someone at your job that hates you for no reason?
I was livid today. I was discussing some stuff with the ladies in my department, something work related, and the lady that doesn't like me for no reason comes over and starts chatting one of the ladies up. She looks at the other lady and says sorry, (Looks at me and says) I didn't think it was important. WHAT THE HELL? How in the hell can you judge that by just walking up? She's bitter at me because I was handed her job. I didn't ask for it, I was asked to apply for it. She was going to have it taken away from her anyway(She'd had it for five years and it was terrible when I took it over), but she went on maternity leave after pooping out her fifth kid, and they did it earlier. She keeps calling me fat and stupid. How original. Sister, at least I could lose weight. You'll always be nasty and ugly.
Do you have anyone like this at your office?

2. Yep. She is manipulative as hell and knows I don't buy the bullshit
She has abused the FMLA system for FOUR YEARS now. And then takes time off for getting massages, getting her hair done, planning parties, babysitting her sick 18 year old, etc. We joke that she also takes an afternoon off to get her twat shaved and sparkled.

She is emotional pollution, and some people are still dumb enough to fall for it. But HR is starting to put the screws to her, and crack down on her making up her own hours and insisting upon a different set of work standards for herself.

But she hates me because I never fell for her crap. She even got written up a few times for deliberately asking others to report to her anything I say or do that she can use against me to complain or get me in trouble. I'll never forget the day she got called on that; we were sitting in the BIG bosses office and she cried and carried on hysterically. The BIG boss, my manager, and I, were just dumbfounded. She was even hyperventilating.

Family businesses are the worst to work for. My husband used to work for a family business and all they did was screw over their employees.

8. At my former crappy job
Edited on Wed Nov-14-07 08:30 PM by PeterU
The receptionist always scowled at me for no real reason. Never said hello. When she quit, she said goodbye to everyone except me. One time I went to use the fax machine, I got this curt "What are you doing?" as if I were rummaging through her stuff. She was a strange character. I don't think I ever did anything wrong to deserve her attitude. I think she may have found it odd that I used the bathroom a little more than some of the other employees. Who knows?

Lordy that was a crappy place to work now that I think about it. Glad that place is behind me.

My cube is right next to hers. She always gave me nasty looks I guess because I'm not interested in standing in other people's cubes whispering for a couple hours a day (assuming I had that much spare time which she apparently does) and spending another couple hours whining about petty shit.

I'll never forget the day not long after I started that she thought something was wrong with her 4 MONTH old daughter because she wouldn't sleep through the night. My nephew was about 1 1/2 at the time and my sister said "She really shouldn't have had a kid."

She doesn't say them TO me, but usually in earshot. She's not that creative.
Also, everyone tells me what she says. They just let her talk.
Further, if she gets written up one more time, she's fired. Believe me, if I get proof, I'm all over it.
My boss knows ALL About it.

21. No, apparently they have a reason.
They don't like the hymns I choose. Of course, I didn't choose the God-awful hymnal I have to deal with, and they worship the organ so we don't use other instruments. But I'm suppose to choose only hymns they know and like. Regardless of whether they go with the text or spirit of the service.

Get a new hymnal and throw out the organ. Get a piano or something. They will like it eventually! Old people fear change at church. Once you do it, they'll get used to it and even like it!

26. In my tradition, I don't get to make those decisions.
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 09:01 PM by mycritters2
They bought these hymnals before I came, and I'm stuck with 'em. They're AWFUL!!! And we have this apparently just FABULOUS organ. I don't know a thing about organs, but people who do tell me we have the best organ for MILES around. And it was wicked expensive, so the attitude is that it MUST be used. I actually think the organ is passe' (I fully expect to get flamed by organ aficionados, but I think its time is past), but tell that to my church. We have a piano, but a)my musicians don't like it, and will actually stay at the organ even for songs I've asked them to play on the piano; and b)when we use it, people ask why we didn't use the organ.

I nearly told my Deacons chair that she can choose the hymns, if she'd like to. But, in our tradition, the hymns should reflect the sermon in some way....so she should write that, too.

29. Give 'em one old favorite per service
And stick the new hymns at the beginning - that way they get their "comfort" hymns as dessert. It's rather like introducing new foods to children: you don't fill the whole plate with what they consider "weird stuff"("How do know you don't like it? You've never tried it!"). Though there is no way you can prepare tripe that I would actually want to eat...I'm with the kids that way.

And I could never get bored with "Amazing Grace". Odd, since I'm not even a Christian.

30. This is exactly what I do....or so I thought.
I've come to the conclusion that the "old favorites" among these upper class ummm, people are different from the old favorites of the farmers and railroad workers I served in Iowa. The last few weeks, I've pretty much only chosen hymns I would've thought everyone knew, but they complained about all the new hymns. "Hyfyrdol" is a new hymn? :wtf:

I'm at a loss.

37. I did; unfortunately it was my boss
Dude never even gave me a chance to EARN his hatred--he was nasty to me from Day 1. In fact, I e-mailed him before I started to say I'd be in to the office after my morning "new-employee" training session. I showed up just after, didn't even stop for lunch, and when I knocked on his office door to say hello, his first words to me were, "What are YOU doing here?" Guy was a real charmer. :eyes:

But he was nice to the other employee who was on the same level as I was; he just had a special place in his black heart for lucky ol' me. In fact, when our VP left and a new one arrived, he started a campaign to convince the new guy I sucked at my job. The new VP was a real winner too--he believed him without ever trying to find out the truth.

Those guys were by far, hands down, the WORST managers I have ever worked for. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough once I saw the writing on the wall.
