5. It is hard to tell what is MORE absurd
PETA upset about the Yeti game? Or people upset about PETA being upset? A toss-up, I think. :P

6. I take it none of you are vegetarians.
It all depends on which side of the fence you're on, I guess. But whenever someone posts something about PETA, I feel like I'm reading Free Republic.

7. What's THAT got to do with it?
Moronic behavior isn't limited to leather-wearing carnivores, y'know.

I take it that your feeling is that any "good card-carrying"
Vegetarian should blindly support PETA?

You agree with stunts like "Your Mommy Kills Animals" brochures?

THAT is why PETA is so scorned around here.

10. I am a vegetarian and I do not blindly support PETA.
I agree with them on most issues. But definitely not a stunt like "Your Mommy Kills Animals" brochure.

but to my mind the reason people really have issues with PETA is that they don't really want to be reminded that a lamb chop used to be a young sheep and that it had to be killed to get to your plate.

if "Mommy" eats/prepares/serves meat then yes "mommy does kill animals", or atleast someone else kills for her, if your child thinking that is really offensive to you then maybe you need to re-think your diet, if your child is erally freaked at the thought of animals being killed then he/she might like to think about vegetarianism.

Like I said I eat meat but I wont freak if you show me a picture of a slaughterhouse - anything else is a bit hypocritical isn't it?

15. Well, I do kill animals.
And not just for food. I'm one of those horrible bio-tech researchers that tortures animals for pleasure...or so PETA would have you believe.

Let's do a reality check. Yes, there are people out there who torture animals. They are few and far between really. The human animal is designed as an omnivore. For those who don't know that means we eat animal and plant materials. Research has shown that a purely vegetarian diet is no healthier than an omniverous one, and a vegan diet can actually be harmful.

PETA has a lot of the right ideas, but they are zelots, and woefully misguided. Many of them are downright stupid.

19. You don't need a knife to eat steak
You can be completely uncivilized and just rip the meat off with your teeth. And I can think of plenty of meat that it is perfectly acceptable to eat without utensils. Ever wondered about that?

when it comes to animals since meat eating started with early man.

When I listen to hard core PETA people I often feel as if I've just listened to Christian fundies. The judgemental aspect is the same from both groups of people.

32. Your logic continues to escape me
But then, my mama taught me not to eat with my fingers, so I tend to use a knife and fork on most of my food.

I also think it's narrow-minded and judgmental to assume that all vegetarians have the same motivation for choosing a vegetarian diet. When I followed a vegetarian diet, I was motivated by what I thought were land-stewardship issues, not by health or animal rights concerns.

Then I moved to Wyoming, talked to a lot of ranchers who really did care about the earth and land stewarship and realized maybe I could still learn a thing or two.

As it turns out, a vegetarian diet is also not the healthiest one for me and my body chemistry.

I did always try not to judge others about their food choices or try to make myself superior to them. When I read snide comments like "have you ever wondered why you need a knife to eat a steak and nothing but a set of teeth to eat a carrot," I see someone trying to play some kind of sloganeering trump card intended not only to "prove" his or her own rightness, but to make everyone else wrong and judged.

25. Have you ever wondered why...
vegetarians have such a bad reputation?

That's an absolutely ridiculous idea - somehow, our biological nature as omnivores is trumped by the fact that our culture calls for steak to be eaten with utensils, rather than with fingers?

You are aware, I assume, that even the premise of your question is faulty, since you can eat a steak with just your teeth?

There - an equally invalid and silly argument to balance out yours.

Because I am 100% against using animal for research and testing. And I am a vegetarian, but not for health reasons. But I feel that by me not eating meat, maybe one less animal will die.

Now, the answer you don't have, tell me what alternative you would offer to animal testing.

There are many other ways to test drugs and cosmetics than on animals.

They have absolutely no, viable, alternative to testing drugs. Cosmetics yes. Drugs no. I happen to agree with them that testing cosmetics, and similar products, on animals is unnecessary.

They are regressive, anarchic, dangerous, and in serious need of a good slapping. They do nothing to push their agenda forward and do everything to undermine everything they, and a lot of unaffiliated people, are working for.
