She said "I got to warn you - that movie is totally one-sided." I told her "I prefer it that way. I hate having to get up and turn the disk over in the middle of the movie." She just laughed, and kind of rolled her eyes and said "have a nice day."

I wish people would shake things up more, approach problems more creatively, and not just assume that the status quo is the only way to live or, worse yet, that people who run into disaster in our health insurance system (bankruptcy, lack of coverage, etc.) somehow deserve what they get. It's a pretty damned heartless society that declares that something we all need ought to be a special privilege that can be withdrawn at any time.

28. I Once Found A Porno Flick Available At Blockbuster

They had "In The Realm Of The Senses" in their foreign movie section. Now, "Realm" is a beautiful, artsy film from Japan, but it is definitely X-rated material (there's a scene that will give you new thoughts about sushi---but I digress).

Anyway, I informed the manager, and I don't think he believed me at first. But the movie was gone, next time I visited the place.

There are good people working at Blockbuster, but I don't think many of them are Rhodes Scholars.....
