Don't you hate irresponsible people?
I'm the president of the gay-straight alliance at my school. Our staff advisor from last year retired, so we had to find a new staff advisor this year. We found a teacher who seemed pretty dedicated to the whole thing. Several weeks after becoming our staff advisor, he announces that he has a conflict every other Wednesday. (We meet once a week on Wednesdays). OK, I said, we have other people who can cover those days. I still really wish he had told me about this to begin with.

Today I get an email announcing that he can't do it on Wednesdays anymore, we have to move our meetings to Tuesdays or Thursdays. Which would be OK if he just emailed it to me and my vice president - but NO! He e-mailed it to the whole friggin group, without consulting me or my VP first! Now he's taking "votes" for what day to move the meetings to! Never mind that I have CANFAR Executive Comittee on Thurdays. (We organize AIDS fundraisers and have a HUGE fundraising week in February, each of us has to do an individual fundraising project, find items for our silent auction, I also have to do publicity and co-ordinate an assembly, etc.)

UGH!!!! What should I do?

2. I just wish he had talked to me first
before e-mailing the entire group.

And now he sent out another e-mail basically threatening to step down if I don't change the date! Then he claims he didn't know it was on Wednesdays when he signed up - Bullshit! (He sent another one to the whole group, this time. Why can't he just e-mail me?)

3. Try to find another Staff adviser. As fast as possible.
This person sounds like they are out to sabotage your group at worst, or they are a control freak at best.

If you concede on this there will be further and more ridiculous demands.

Nip it in the BUD!
